This recipe of toor dal is very easy to prepare with no complicated steps. This can also be experimented by adding equal proportions of channa dal or moong dal foe variations. When you are extremely hungry and have very less time, this one goes well and promises you a comfort and satisfying meal.

PREPARATION TIME: 5 minutes
COOKING TIME: 20 minutes
INGREDIENTS:
- 2 cups of cooked toor dal
- 1 cup of water
- 1 cup chopped onions
- 1 cup of chopped tomatoes
- 2 tbspn. of chopped coriander
- ½ tbspn. of mustard seeds
- ½ tbspn. of cumin seeds
- 1 tbspn. of ginger-garlic paste
- 1-2 red chillies
- 1 green chilli slit
- 4-5 curry leaves
- ½ tbspn. of chilli powder
- ½ tbspn. of coriander powder
- ¼ tspn. of turmeric
- ½ tspn. of salt or as required
- Ghee for tempering
METHOD:
- Firstly, pressure cook the dal for 3-4 whistles, mash well and set it aside.
- In a wok, take ghee, add mustard seeds, allow it to splutter, add cumin seeds, curry leaves, slit green chilli and red chilli. Ghee gives a nice aroma for the tempering.

- Then add onions and fry a bit. Now add ginger-garlic paste and saute well

- Add the spice powders, chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric and salt.

- Now add the tomatoes and let it cook for 2-3 minutes and then add the cooked dal and water mix well and let it cook for 4-5 minutes. Cover a lid to avoid spluttering.
