I’M ACTUALLY TIRED TODAY..

She rubbed her eyes and her hands involuntarily searched for her phone. She snoozed the alarm and wished she could get few more hours to sleep, though she had to please herself for the next 10 minutes only, she got herself up yawning and nodding. She quickly tied her messy hair and walked towards the washroom. Looking at the mirror, her sleepy eyes longed for a weekend sooner, considering she could catchup an hour extra sleep.

The sun hadn’t risen, finding her way through the gloomy passage, she switched on the lights and was stirred by seeing the dishes in and around the sink. She hadn’t loaded the dishwasher last night. She was very tired from their weekend trip. Exhaling, she said ‘I better buckle up’. It was almost time for her kids to wake up. She had to make them breakfast, pack their snack and lunch boxes and get them ready to school. Sooner, she and her husband had to leave for work.

She managed to do these, and her kids reached school just in time, ‘without a tardy, Yaay!’, she said. It almost meant she won a medal. Hurrying back home, she was waiting for a signal to pass and at the background her favorite song playing on the radio also dint seem to cheer her up. A few minutes later she reached home, while her husband was watering the plants, she packed lunch for both. She freshened up and quickly grabbed a cereal and wished she ate her mom made aloo parathas. Smirking at her unfinished cereal bowl, she hurried and unplugged her laptop, grabbed her things and left for office.

Driving was the only time; she used to call her mother and speak stress-free. She told her mom, how she wished to eat aloo parathas and expressed how tired she was, and dint want to work that day. Her mother knew how to cheer her up, she had sent some homemade sweets and savories’ that would be delivered in a couple of days. She still bragged and had to halt when her office arrived.’ Bye Maa’ she said and hung up.

It was a piled-up day at work with back to back calls, meeting and deadlines. While she was replying an important email, she received a notification of an amazon delivery and didn’t want to lose it at the porch. She called her neighbor and asked them to keep it safe. While she drafted the remaining mail, she remembered it was the last day to order school supplies, she ensured she did that. Now, she had lost track of what she was conscripting. Meanwhile, her desk phone rang, it was her manager. She only gave one liners and dint look happy.

She made herself some coffee and forgot to add the creamer. She sipped and regretted her coffee making skills. Meanwhile, she got a call from her husband, he would be late from work and asked her to pick the kids from school. ‘That’s it’, she said and left from office marking a day off.

She came home, tossed all her stuff walked towards the refrigerator and got herself a kulfi falooda ice-cream and made herself comfortable on the couch and watched her favorite series ‘Grey’s Anatomy’. She even fell asleep, later the kids came and all of them had a scrumptious lunch together. The kids got busy with their homework and she was still watching TV so relaxed; meanwhile, she heard a knock on her door, and she was overwhelmed by her neighbor who got her evening Tea and snacks, she was so thankful for this gesture. She said to herself, ‘so what if I couldn’t eat aloo parathas, I got these yummilicious dokhla and chaai’.

Many a times, we could be the cited ‘She’. We forget to enjoy little things and be thankful for the simple pleasures, while running behind the busy turmoil. Many of us could be the neighbor too. We sometimes underestimate the influence of little things. Small things become great when done with love.

“IT’s THE MOMENT, NOT THE ACHIEVEMENT”

Isn’t it wonderfully said, we all need that little ‘ME’ time. Enjoy and relish it and get back sturdier. Have real moments for yourself. Women of solitude and self-reflection know how to balance themselves while they give away. Be the courage within to, doing what you are afraid to do and then you will discover yourself fiercer and stronger.

Strong women get tired,

Strong women feel broken,

Strong women get fed up,

And eventually ,

Strong women rise above.
