MY WONDERWOMEN

It was the time of the year, when women’s day was approaching. There were a lot of articles on the social media, on how women have progressed from ancient times to now.  The exertions and agreements over the generations have made women enormous achievers in today’s world. It was the assurance and motivation from the influential women in the past that, women are being liberal and are able accomplish great things.

Every successful woman needs to have a firm foundation. She needs to stand up with dignity and pride. She is fearful and the real architect of the society. Like the saying, Strong women lift each other up. Yes, that’s right!  This gave me a moment of thought; how few women have influenced my life too. I’m not sure, if I could lift them up, but these women have driven me in all walks. Their influence has made me more optimistic.

I might have seen them all my life, met them recently, known them for some time, know their inner secrets, might just not keep in touch regularly; but I have always been admiring them. This Women’s day I would like to applaud these WONDERWOMEN for adding a sparkle in my life.

My teacher, mentor and my guiding force has always been my Amma. Today, we are thousands of miles apart; a phone call can brighten my mood. She can guess what I want, even before I could give her a clue. She can put up with my tantrums anytime of the day. There’s not a day that goes by where I call her to ask recipes. Even though I have made a dish one hundred times, I feel it turns out delicious after she tells me the recipe. She has always been very patient in telling me over and again. My amma has trained me to live independently and she has always given me the courage to face the impediments practically. She has shown me how finest mother I can be. I am gratified to have my amma. Sometimes, people praise me for being a good cook; I can only smile and think of my amma, it’s the blood you see.

“Amma, may every tear that has ever fallen from your tired eyes on my behalf become a river for you in paradise. Of all the gifts that life had to offer, my amma will always be the best.”

I can’t remember how we were friends, what made us get along so well. We were best of friends that our school knew. We shared similarities in anything one could think of, food, colors, dress, movies, books, thoughts, art, work and more. From then till now, we have had this flowing. As years passed by, family kept us busy and both of us have progressed in Life. I know her secrets and so does she. We ensure we keep us updated with the happenings. She’s with a lot of patience and perseverance. She’s an angel in disguise. She’s my one-stop behind all the crazy ideas I have been doing. Not a single day, she has disappointed me in pouring her genuine ideas. A friend for life- Veena J

I guess, destiny plays an important role. I happen to meet this charming lady few years after my wedding. From then, she has influenced me in many ways. There were days when I tried to copy her, explore things her way and this in fact cladded me to explore my kitchen. Though we haven’t spent much time together, I can say she is the perfect example of an efficient Woman. In brief, she’s been a great wife, caring mother, happy colleague and mostly a very good friend. She balances work-family so well. I have been her secret admirer and inculcated many of her conducts and practices. I could have not been this organized and prearranged unless I had met her. She’s my secret angel and has facilitated me to adapt in many ways. A woman who knows to have fun – Pushpa Lokesh

I must admit that this lady has magic in her hands. She’s a professional home-baker and the  most popular in town. Her classes and the innovation in them are just beyond anybody thought. I happen to meet her twice in her classes few years ago and thanks to social media for keeping us well connected. She’s has her sources and knowledge up to date, she’s capable of making an amateur  to a professional in days. Her hard-work and dedication are explicit. I have seen her start fresh ideas and she’s a self critic. She desires perfection in all her masterpieces. A proud Limca record holder is popular among the women in Bangalore. She has repeat orders, clients and students exclusively for her orderliness. She has inspired a lot of women entrepreneurs. Lavanya is a brand by herself, she makes her classes fun loving and keeps all of them united with the groups for further brainstorming. She makes sure the groups are active with her new creations and ideas. The marketing strategy she follows is very genuine and professional. She’s a self made professional,  I like her for the way she handles her passion amidst the family and friends. She creates her own impediments and makes sure it’s a success. That’s truly for you- Lavanya V Kotha

Have you seen a superwoman? If not, you got to meet this lady with mercury in her feet. If you have a HFIM (High frequency impulse measurement) instrument, you could go bonkers with the numbers. She’s that impulsive. From big bang to buoyancy she can explain everything in a modest way. If you are stuck somewhere, she is the person you can vouch for. Though I wasn’t introduced to her from times immemorial, I can feel we are well associated. I guess it was the binary star’s blessing in having a superconductor for my viscosity. Her periodic table can have everything under the cosmos and she can complete everything with grace. Her theory of relativity can reduce surface tension and increase the radiance to infinity. I’m still in my first page for her universal book and only wish I could complete It someday. This might look absurd, but I couldn’t find better phrases to explain her acceleration 😉

I had this connection with Chennai from a long time now. I have had good memories associated with the city and their people. It was mere luck that I met this wonderful woman when we moved here to Texas a few months ago, she happens to be from Chennai and my neighbor, at the very first meeting I was so impressed. There are a very few people who catch you at first sight and she did that perfectly. It’s just few months that I have known her, but the change she got in me is appreciable. She’s  with a lot of energy and constantly encourages people to try new things. You can imagine, she has got me into the habit of singing shlokas and religiously follow them in just couple of months. My husband is surprised by this act of mine, since it wasn’t my cup of tea. I love the way she celebrates every festival and how creative she gets. She’s an amazing cook and her trait for art has left me awestruck. Her ideas are enduring and contemporary. She’s the perfect example of the modern yet a traditional woman- Krithika Ramesh
