This ginger and turmeric immune boosting tea recipe is the best way to stay healthy during the cold winter months and help fight off a cold or flu. With the novel Corona Virus around the globe, we need to be circumspect and one way to build a stronger immune system is this simple tea. If you are unable to find fresh turmeric root, ground turmeric also works fine. I really would drink this turmeric tea every day, ideally on an empty stomach, it works best with fresh turmeric root.
Turmeric root is easily available in markets all over. In USA, whole foods and Indian stores always stock them.

INGREDIENTS:
- 2 inches fresh turmeric root
- 4 inches ginger
- 1 lemon
- 1 ½ inch of cinnamon
- 8-10 black pepper cons
- 3 cups water

METHOD:
- Peel and cut both turmeric root and ginger, slice the lemon and set it aside.

- Boil 3 cups of water in a pot. Make sure you have enough space at least 3 inches while you boil the water.
- Once the water starts bubbling, add the fresh turmeric, ginger, cinnamon and black pepper cons. You may alter the ingredients as per your taste; I like more cinnamon in my tea.
- Boil for 10 minutes on high.
- Now, add the sliced lemon and cover the pot with a lid. Let it boil for 3-5 mins. If you happen to boil more than 5 minutes, the tea might taste bitter, so watch out.
- Strain the hot tea, a teapot with infuser makes it easier for me else a strainer works great too.
- Enjoy the tea while it’s still hot.
PS: It is advisable to finish off the tea at one shot and not store it. Also, discard the leftover lemon, ginger and turmeric pieces.
